Open searches are the most common form of postdoctoral recruitment in the humanities and social sciences. Most of Brown's open searches for postdoctoral positions are advertised via the New England Higher Education Recruitment Consortium.

Many faculty members in the natural and life sciences do not advertise postdoctoral positions, and you are encouraged to contact them directly with inquiries about postdoctoral positions.
