Postdoctoral Research Associates are eligible to enroll in one of three Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) medical plans offered by Brown University:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Core PPO Plan
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Premier PPO Plan
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) with Health Savings Account (HSA)

You can review the 2026 Rate Sheet for Faculty and Staff to see the monthly employee contribution, which is deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis.
Please note, Brown University’s health insurance plans require that you elect coverage within 31 days of your start date. Please email the Benefits Office if you have any questions or concerns about your health insurance enrollment.
