Postdoctoral Affairs

The Brown Postdoc Council (BPC) works to represent and advocate for postdoctoral scholars at Brown University and to foster an inclusive, supportive, and diverse community. The BPC supports postdoctoral researchers in their professional development and training by organizing social and academic events.

The BPC represents individuals with the titles of Postdoctoral Research Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Office of University Postdoctoral Affairs (OUPA), as well as those at Brown-affiliated hospitals and institutions. The council also advocates for policy improvements and amplifies the voices of postdoctoral scholars across the University.

Founded in December 2018 by three postdoctoral scholars, the BPC was established to serve and support the postdoctoral community at Brown.

The BPC welcomes new members. Any individual with a postdoctoral appointment may join and participate. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings, which are offered in both virtual and in-person formats. Opportunities are also available to serve in leadership roles.
