Overview
The Office of the Dean of the Faculty (DoF) supports academic excellence across the divisions of the physical and life sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences, working also with deans of other academic divisions and programs across Brown. While the DoF’s primary role focuses on faculty recruitment, development, and academic policy, many of the units it oversees also host postdoctoral scholars.
The DoF collaborates with the Cogut Institute for the Humanities to oversee Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in the humanities funded by the Mellon Foundation, as well as Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in International Humanities.
In addition, the DoF partners with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to administer the Presidential Postdoctoral Research Associate Program.
The DoF also supports postdoctoral appointments within the Data Science Institute, the Watson School of International and Public Affairs, and the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society.
Postdoctoral Opportunities
Many postdoctoral opportunities in DoF-affiliated departments and institutes are listed through the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) website or on the pages linked above. Because faculty members in the natural and life sciences at Brown may not opt to advertise postdoctoral positions, you are encouraged to contact them directly with inquiries about openings.
